Hi, Lovely! ♥
I know I am so freaking lazy to update my blog. Duh duh my mood is kinda swinging~ So hard to keep myself up of updating blog. Feels like I'm walking still while others are moving so damn fast!
So, I'm more into Instagram and another apps like Fasyen. What do you think if I'm shutting this blog and more to Instagram and Fasyen? But.. it doesn't sound really good, too. Kinda confused what to do and how to keep myself up of updating blogs and so on..
I wanna start this October by sharing my basic keys in makeup. YES, base makeup is basic and it would be always the most important key to look fabulous in me! I think it is also for everyone. So let’s move to the products. I would give short reviews so there’s more about good and bad sides of product. I don’t explain much about ingredients.
Primers:
I’m kinda trying to avoid silicone based primer because i feel the silicone texture is annoying. Silicone makes smoother base and feels more silky but I am not into it. I feel my skin is less breathable and need to cleanse my face multiple times (doing dual cleansing/cleanse it twice is not enough, lovely!). If it isn’t well cleansed, I’ll get breakout. ERH.
I heard there IS water based primer and I LOVE IT more than silicone based one. I prefer water based primer because it helps to hydrate my dehydrated oily skin. It is also much breathable. The minus is water based primer is not made to combine with anything made by silicone and silica. I don’t think I will recommend this to you even it works on me.
My first water based primer is Laura Mercier Foundation Primer. I got a sample size, about 5ml, from a random seller in a cosmetic group and I LOVE THE PERFORMANCE! The things I don’t like is the smell and it contains paraben.
So, I move to this one. Sephora Collection Silicone Free Foundation Primer is kinda amazing. It makes my base makeup stand for 4-5 hours. It slightly shines for 6 hours and my makeup is still there. My makeup doesn’t slip too much and I LIKE IT.
The packaging is a clear pump plastic bottle with black cap. If you check the product, it has no straw. Don’t worry. It doesn’t need to have straw. The pump is automatically getting up .
The texture is so watery and a lil bit runny. It absorbs to my skin well and it holds my makeup for 4-5 hours pretty well.
But if you think I’m 100% avoiding silicone based primer, well, I’m not. I STILL have silicone based one but I apply it when I need to go anywhere but outdoor! I can’t imagine my makeup melts with my sweat ERH. So, I need silicone based one to prevent much melting, especially T-Zone area. Here, I use NARS Pro-Prime Skin Smoothing Face Prep.
Are you wondering about the size? The size is pretty small. It can be used for all over your face but it looks best if you use it in certain spots (like T-Zone). It is in a small black box with a touch of velvet layer and the product itself is like a balm. The texture is somewhat velvety but it doesn’t feel greasy. I can’t take the photo because it is hard to capture the texture. You can feel it but it is barely seen!
Foundations:
Yeah, I have 2 foundations and both of them are full coverage one! People would be like “WTF why do you buy 2 full coverage foundation?”
Alright, I think both of them are different in thickness. Let me explain about Estee Lauder Double Wear first.
It comes into a clear classic square glass bottle with a touch of velvet layer and a gold cap. The product provides the detail in a box with blue and gold touch. Feels so elegant! But I don’t like it comes into a cap which means I have to pour the foundation. No no no! I will surely try to find an alternative to use it. So, I got a foundation pump from MAC, cut the straw about 2-3 centimetres and put it there. Voila! It’s attached perfectly.
The product has medium to full coverage so it’s buildable. I took 3W1 Tawny and it matches in me. It’s not too yellow in me. The texture is ultra matte and it means it dries fast so you need to blend it quickly. Even the foundation has much silicone but it can stand to my Sephora primer pretty well. It could stand about 4 hours. But it works best with my NARS primer if we wanna compare the longevity because it stands about 6-8 hours. Amazing. I’m the one who sweats a lot and this foundation doesn’t melt much when I’m sweating. I have to say that the foundation works great in oily skin and people who live in tropical countries like me.
Left: KVDLIT, Right: ELDW
-- EDIT --
I forget to put this. My bad..
As you can see, KVDLIT has fuller coverage than ELDW. ;D
And my other foundation, Katvon D Lock-It Tattoo (now, Lock-It Foundation) is also amazing like hell.
It comes into a clear bulky plastic bottle with black ornaments and KVD logo on the silver pump. The product itself claims that it is 24 hours wear. Well, I wouldn’t try to wear it for 24 hours. I think my skin couldn’t breath later lol. Btw, I don’t get the box for my KVDLIT and NARS primer because I purchased the preloved ones from a friend (and a pro MUA) in Edmonton, Canada. She said she didn’t use them much. They are in 90% left. Of course, I’ll buy it since I know that she considers about hygiene a lot and she used them in a little amount. Plus, the product is really hard to find here.
The product has full coverage. Yes, full. It couldn’t be less than full. *sigh*. Well, I love the coverage when I’m in need.
I grabbed it in Medium 56. It comes into a thick liquid and it’s kinda hard to blend. The texture is quite smooth and it’s not runny. However, it’s so tricky since if you apply it too much, it’ll be so cakey or patchy. If you don’t mix it well, it’ll blotchy. The color itself is also too yellow in me. I need to fix it with fairer foundation –_- I found Nuri shared her Medium 52 in 5gr jar so I bought a jar and I use it to mix Medium 52 with my Medium 56 in 1:1. Lucky me, it matches. KVDLIT dries longer than ELDW so I don’t blend it in rush like I do with ELDW. It doesn’t stand with my Sephora primer for long time. It stands for 2-3 hours but it stands much longer with NARS primer. It stands for 8 hours with less shine. So, make sure to get silicone based primer to apply this foundation. I don’t recommend this to dry skin at all, especially to anybody who has patchy skin. And one more thing you should know. It is so hard to cleanse. Make sure you can cleanse it all.
Concealers:
I have 3 concealers and I’d like I wanna cry HAHAHAHA. I don’t know whether if it is too much but all of them have different textures so I think it would be different to apply on my face.
First, Marc Jacobs Re(Marc)able Full Cover Concealer. I took the color 5 Perfect and it is beyond my expectation.
This concealer comes into a square-ish glass jar with black cap and the cap is embossed by silver font. I like how classy it looks. The packaging is as perfect as it is named lol. It has creamy to powder texture so it needs concealer brush to apply. I like it because the texture is nice to apply on under eye. You can apply it by fingers but I think it’s little harder to apply. I took this color because it matches my skin perfectly (I don’t take lighter one) and my friend told me that if I took no 4, it would be ashy in me. We have similar undertone and skin color (neutral, NC37-NC40).
This one has orange tone so it is great to cover my dark circle even it is in flesh color. It has great coverage but I don’t apply more than twice on the same spot with this concealer because it turns so powdery when it dries. The worse is getting creased. So, if you think you need more coverage, you can apply another concealer with different texture. It will be creased for 3-4 hours but it creased soo little. It’s barely seen. It’s great as concealer. You can touch it up with little amount and it turns great again. The thing is the concealer doesn’t really stay and it transfers if you apply it wrong so if you have oily skin like me, don’t expect this much. The price is kinda high though.
Second, MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
This one comes into a small clear pump glass bottle and it comes with black caps and fonts. You can see the product and color clearly from the bottle. The packaging is nice but the bottle is fragile. It’s made with thin glass so it could be break anytime.
It is in thick liquid but it’s heavy to apply. The coverage is more into medium to full and I like how it cover the scars and my uneven brows. It has superb coverage! It isn’t oily, not even powdery, which is great if you reapply it for multiple times. It’s not too moist and it’s not creamy, too. I feel I’m applying water lol.
You don’t have to take a full pump because a half pump can cover the blemishes all over your face. Great. The bad thing is it’s not easy to control from the pump, you could get too much product on your finger :/ I took NC30 because i can use it as highlighter and it looks so natural in me. What a great concealer! The color is typical with MAC’s foundations (or a little fairer) so I grab it in NC30.
However, this concealer wouldn’t work best if you have kinda major problems or the imperfections is hard to be covered like redness, dark circle and so on. You can’t skip the corrector. It couldn’t cover my dark circle like MJ does and it turns my under eye looks so dull. Since I don’t have any corrector and my dark circle is pretty easy to neutralize, I apply MJ concealers to cover my dark circle and then make a thin layer from MAC concealer.
Third, L.A Girl Pro. conceal
This one comes into a clear plastic tube with black cap and attached with a brush applicator. The coverage is medium to full and this one is one of the great drugstore products I’ve ever used. I grabbed Natural Beige. The coverage is medium but it’s pretty buildable. It’s not drying, too. Pretty moist and this is the only moist concealer I’ve ever had. I don't take any pic of this because.. I took wrong shades and hard to capture the pics. If you wonder how it would be, well, when it is blended, it turns into similar skintone as mine. Kinda have to buy another one with lighter shade.
To apply this concealer, you have to squeeze the tube and the liquid would come from the brush. Beware. it could be hard to squeeze and getting loaded of the liquid because the liquid is pretty confusing to control. It’s not slippery but it doesn’t stay any longer than another concealers I have.
Setting Powder:
Setting powder is very important for me because I need to set my base makeup into long lasting and smoother finish. I currently using Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder in Universal. I have another face powders to go but this one is my fave!!
The product is nice because this is translucent. I don’t have to worry because it doesn’t have color at all. It can blend to your skin in a very short time so I don’t think it makes white cast on the camera. Many people said that it helps to control face oil, I think it is but it doesn't really help since my skin's sooo freaking oily!
Anyway, it doesn't come with sponge or any applicator. I apply this with powder brush and ugh, it turns great in me! Some people might think that no applicator is such a cons, well I'm pretty chill about applicator so it's not a big deal.
It's a glimpse of products I recently use. So, I'm sorry if it's not good enough as a review posts.
So, what are you into in makeup and why? ;D Lemme know what ya think about makeup thingy you will always love to have.
