[Tips] What's HOT & NOT for Gyaru Style (English)

I'm so glad today. I wanna make a post 'all about Gyaru style' today!! *yaay!*
I'm making 2 post in Indonesian and English. For Indonesian language, please access it here. :D

Ya, you know, I love Gyaru very much. Perhaps I learn about Gyaru style in a 'too' short time, yes, for 2 years. I'm not also an expert on it. I love this style too much, too much, too much since I was teen (I don't know it is 'Gyaru' on my teen). AND THANKS to my PUBERTY, I'd learnt how to love myself and do the best on my appearance!

Nowadays, so many people do 'not understand' about Gyaru. They don't really get it .. How sad I am T__T
They are trying to be 'Gyaru' but they make it like a clown. I know they don't want to .. But, please, learn more. You are not a 5-year-old kid! Try to find more about the things you want to know!

I've researched so many things about Gyaru in my life and TODAY, I wanna post every 'hot' and 'not' things on Gyaru style! Wanna know more?

WHAT'S HOT AND NOT!

Eh ya, what's hot and not? Sure, you have to achieve to get 'more' Gyaru style. I'l try to explain some sub-cultures here As you know, Gyaru has too much 'sub-cultures' and I can't explain all of them. So, I will explain you 'based on' popular style.

HAIR

Is hair important for Gyaru style? SURE! Whatever style you love, you MUST have a very good hair. I don't care whenever you're wearing wig or not, it's one of the most important for ladies, especially Gyaru style!

Wearing wig, especially synthetic one is a very good alternative and economical way to get a very good hair. However, many women aren't very good to capture some photos. 

HOT:  

1. Mostly, Gyaru has bleached hair. Nowadays, it's okay if your hair isn't bleached as long as it's colored and NOT BLACK! If your hair is black, it can be a 'black-hair' Gyaru. In my opinion, black-hair isn't as hot as bleached hair one XD. And most Gyaru models/icons curl their hair. You can keep your hair straight but, yes, not really 'Gyaru'.

Blonde and Curl hair. Mostly Gyaru has it!

Other color (not too light)

A Rokku Gyaru style. They don't perm their hair but they keep restyle their hair!!

Black hair Gyaru. It's so rare of finding black hair Gyaru ...

2. Restyle your wig a little and comb it! Make sure that you're wearing wig in a proper way.

3. Be sure that your hair looks good on your whole look. Wear a headband or hair accesories to be more stunning!

4. Be confident and take your photo (if it's selca) properly.

NOT: 

1. Try to avoid some 'too colorful' wig, especially for 'cosplay-purpose' wig. The only reason is they won't achieve natural hair look.

It's a cosplayer and you can see that her hair is really a wig ..

2. Avoid 'using' flash mode if you take your photos in indoor, especially low lighted room. Be sure that your room is bright enough. It helps you a lot!

It looks unnatural at all, doesn't it? :/

MAKE UP

Ya, you can't ask more about make up. Gyaru has never have any 'natural' make up. NOT AT ALL! They love make up very much and they are confident to be different. At that time, Gyaru is a style which makes women want to get more attention as being different! So, keep in your mind. Gyaru has never been 'natural' make up. 

There's more natural make up like Onee-Gyaru but it's STILL not natural. p (-___-)q

HOT:  

1. Eye make up is very important!! Be sure, you will have a dolly eyes. Big eyes are good but not too big!! It's scary if your eyes are too big ... -_-

On Koakuma Ageha's model. They're more Ageha/Agejo style

On Popteen Magazine. They are cuter. Mostly, they're romantic gyaru :D

Do we have to wear soft contact lens? It's relative. You know yourself well, indeed. If it doesn't suit you well, you don't have to push yourself too hard!

The key is "dolly eyes"

The essential tools are eye shadow, eye liner and fake eyelashes. Eye primer is optional, IMO. 

If your eyes are big enough with no lenses and have wide eyelid, you're too luck! LOL

But if you're monolid, you have no choice. You must achieve double eyelid to get Gyaru eyes.

On Ranzuki's model. her real eye is monolid :/

2. Shape your eyebrow. Please be sure you have your eyebrow trimmed. FYI, their brow has same color with their hair. Mostly, they bleached their eyebrow OR they're wearing eyebrow powder/pencil/mascara to achieve that kind of eyebrow. Their eyebrow is also quite thin and straight.

3. Nose make up is essential for many Asians. Not many people have a good nose shape, that's why they contour their nose. It makes their nose look smaller!! They're also not difficult to achieve.

4. Blush blush blush! Every make up style needs blusher, indeed. It prevents 'too pale' look. Mostly, Gyaru has a very vivid blusher on their face. It will be exceptional if it comes into Onee-Gyaru and other dark Gyaru styles like Goshikku and Rokku. They don't always have vivid blusher BUT they do contour their face, too! They use bronzer to get more healthy look. Some of them are also making 'sun-kissed' skin

5. Lips? You can have soooo many lip make up style, but you have to make your lip up. No exception!! BTW, their lip make up is also quite many, but they're rarely using liptint on their lips. Because the effect of using liptint is different than lipstick one.

 NOT: 

1. Too dewy face, too much shimmering make up, too thick eyeliner (?) It's a big no!!!

Mostly, Gyaru has semi-matte and matte look. They are not really into dewy look. But if you're insist, make it well. Please not too dewy! Just a lil bit, a very lil bit!

2. No too white and too glittery coloring pencil

I have to explain the truth. So many woman use their white and glittery pencil eye on their tear line to make a cute eye. For me, it's too scary! You can't color your tearline with too white pencil color for Gyaru look. Mostly, it is good for Korean look (aegyo-sal), but it won't be good for Japanese look. Let me give some comparisons!

A is korean product and B is japanese one. It's not about the manufacturer but it's about the color. Don't use white and glittery pencil color for your tear line. Japanese one is more yellowish

Apply it on my eyes, you can see the difference! Gyaru doesn't use white and glittery pencil on their tear line like A's photo

See? You have to choose right pencil color, too!

3. Please make your face as smooth and perfect as it can be. I mean, conceal every imperfections. It will look so bad if you don't conceal them all.

OUTFIT

I think I can't explain too much wordy on outfit. Outfit from different subs has different style, too!

HOT:
1. Be stylish! Don't make it too messy.
2. Make your fashion taste is related each other. If not, make it look cool.
3. Know your body shape. If you're quite fat, don't wear too tight shirt, and so on.
4. Wear cool shoes!
5. You can use some accessories on your head, wrist, etc

1. Wearing dirty and lousy things? Please don't!

2. Wearing unrelated accessories for your style.

Example: You have dark Gyaru style but you wear many pink ribbons on your head. NO!

4. Not wearing any sandals, crocs or too ordinary sneakers. You have to be stunning from head to toe!

This is What's HOT and NOT!

But you have to improve yourself, too. It's only some tips of mine.

1. Improve your fashion sense and be yourself!

2. Make your face as a plain canvas. All you have to do is making your face look as its best!

3. Confident as always and don't forget, read and look many things about Gyaru. Don't stop learning!! ;D
